Christmas Hike In The Chiricahua Mountains

Portal Rodeo Hiking Club
 Chiricahua Mountains With Snow

 Old Corral
The Portal Rodeo Hiking Club of 10 people and 2 dogs started the hike in the Chiricahua Mountains at North Fork old corral, just past the Southwestern Research Station in Portal, Arizona.  I am sure a lot of history at this area of the corral but I do not know it, a great corral it has a tree that grew in the fence.  We then hiked with no trail for awhile then came upon one, some snow on the trail that has not melted yet. The hike was about 6 miles as we went to just south of Paradise, Arizona. We hiked to a place with some great rock formations that looks like a elephant and had our lunch.  We then hiked back to where we started from talking about next weeks hike.

  3. Snow on the mountains, just beautiful. As long as I don't have to SHOVEL it! I left 7 FEET of snow in Buffalo NY 10+ years ago.

  4. I like to see the snow cover the mountains, then when we get it lower it melts the same day, this is good!
